Heritage Built on Performance

Born from Racing

To truly understand performance sailing requires more than technical knowledge — it demands a lifelong passion for the sea and proven experience on the water. Tony Castro’s sailing heritage is deeply rooted in competitive racing, with decades of hands-on involvement at the highest levels of the sport shaping the studio’s approach to yacht design.

Tony began racing boats as a young boy and, by his teenage years, had already secured numerous championship titles across nearly ten different classes. This early immersion in competitive sailing provided an exceptional understanding of boat dynamics and performance — expertise that became the foundation of the studio when it was formally established in 1981. At that time, success in yacht design was earned on the racecourse, where performance spoke louder than marketing.

Proven on the World Stage

In 1981, the studio achieved international recognition when Justine III won the One Ton World Cup, becoming the first yacht ever to win all five races of the championship — one of the most prestigious and demanding events in international sailing at the time.

This landmark victory established the studio’s reputation for performance-driven yacht design and led to commissions from leading manufacturers and private clients seeking proven expertise on the water.

Designing Performance for Over 40 Years

Over the following four decades, the studio has created award-winning sail and power yachts ranging from competitive racing yachts to larger custom projects. Every design reflects a commitment to performance, efficiency and timeless elegance, shaped by decades of practical sailing experience.

13,500+ Boats. One Philosophy.

Today, with more than 500 designs completed and over 13,500 boats sailing worldwide, the Tony Castro legacy continues to be driven by the same principles that shaped its beginnings: innovation, performance and an enduring passion for sailing excellence.
